Richard Wilson
Richard Wilson is a London-born, Detroit-based artist whose practice centers on finely observed portraiture.
His entry into art began in the 1980s through graffiti, where working at scale, developing a strong visual voice, and engaging with public space shaped his approach.
Over time, his practice evolved into studio-based fine art, with a focus almost exclusively on commissioned portraits that explore identity, cultural presence, and the quiet power of representation.
Drawing on both street-level immediacy and classical painting traditions, Wilson’s work bridges lived experience and formal portraiture with clarity and respect.
