Mike Ross

Michael Ross is a painter interested in the possibilities of sculptural elements and how a painting
occupies space.

He grew up surrounded by lakes and woods in Commerce Township, MI (formerly Union Lake). He lived for a while in the sandblown desert city of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and later attended college at Oakland University, earning a degree in Anthropology and Studio Art. The subsequent 10 years were spent playing loud guitars in art-punk noise bands; since 2014 he’s been working out of the arts community at 333 Midland in Highland Park, and has been director and lead curator of the Annex Gallery there since 2020. His paintings and murals can be found across Michigan and throughout this country and in a few others.
