Iggy Sumnik

Iggy Sumnik (1982–2023) was a Detroit-born multimedia artist known for his expressive ceramic sculptures. He earned his BFA from Wayne State University in 2004 and completed an apprenticeship at Omaha’s Jun Kaneko Studio before founding ArtByIggy Studio.

Iggy’s work reflects a deep connection to the natural world and a belief in the transformative power of creativity. In addition to his studio practice, he was a dedicated educator, inspiring young artists in both Omaha and Detroit.

His legacy lives on through his artwork and through ongoing support of community arts education programs funded by the sale of his work.
